These steels are used whenever standard high carbon grades cannot reach the requested results. Different grades contain specific alloyed elements to emphasize the main properties important for specific applications.
Just for short reference, here after you can find main effects of most important alloy elements.
- Chromium: better oxidation resistance. More than 12% means stainless steel
- Manganese: higher maximum hardness
- Molybdenum: higher hardness after hardening
- Vanadium: finer structure for better fatigue limit
- Nickel: more duct ability and better hardening penetration
Most common uses
Items for heat treatment after blanking: chains, bearings, clutches, hings, washers, safety rings and many others items manufactured by blanking and fine blanking.
